Ngilu: Enough is enough, we will bring to book workers paralysing health sector

Following massive complaints and graft allegations in health facilities, Kitui  county Governor Charity Ngilu on Thursday,  February 21, kicked off stock taking of drugs in all health facilities in the county.

The exercise is aimed at bringing to book officials who may have been corruptly benefitting from illegal sale of drugs meant to be given freely to patients in all public health facilities.

During the launching of the stock taking exercise at the Kitui Referral Hospital, the Governor said that the health docket has enough money to buy adequate drugs and hospital equipment to serve patients for free whenever they attend health facilities.

Enough is enough. My people will no longer be send to buy drugs from chemists owned by the hospital staff after they are prescribed from our public health facilities“, she said.

She also noted that stock taking of commonly used drugs should provide guidance of what drugs need to be stocked to avoid any shortage in the health facilities.
