The County Government of Kitui has today,February 27, received Kshs. 821 Million from the National Government  to fund various projects passed in the second supplementary budget.

The money was released today by the National Treasury to undertake various programmes slated for implementation in this year’s budget.

Speaking at her office today, County Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of County Treasury, Mary Nguli said that the county will now finalize payment of all approved pending bills and fund all Ministries as per their proposed programmes.

She further clarified that delays in payment of pending bills had been occassioned by lack of a supplementary budget and a delay in release of funds.

he national government has reportedly not been meeting its revenue targets and had hence delayed release of funds to counties.

Going forward, timely preparation of financial reports and procurement planning coupled with establishment of Budget Implementation Committees(BICs) in all Ministries will ensure faster delivery and timely absorption of funds.
