Mutua asks for re-inroduction of prime minister positions

Machakos Governor  Dr Alfred Mutua request for  positions of Prime Minister and two deputy prime ministers to be re-introduced.

Speaking during the first day of his bench-marking tour of Kakamega County, Governor Mutua further said presidential candidates should also be allowed to vie for other seats to provide them with something to fall back to in case they fail to clinch the top seat.

“Kenyan politics is do-or-die, because when a leader fails to clinch a seat they become irrelevant. Let us expand our constitution, let us create more positions like Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and many others to accommodate various leaders so that it does not become do or die, ” mutua  said

Mutua Further  noted that the Kenyan system should imitate  practices in countries such as the United States of America and England where “if you go for presidency and miss, you’re still in the government.”

“We therefore want that one can run for presidency and Senator at the same time, so that if you miss one you continue with the other,” mutua added.

Dr Alfred Mutua and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya also promised  to cooperate and work together.

The Machakos County Governor further urged leaders not  to stick  to power but instead create way for a new crop of leaders.

Mutua becomes the first governor to benchmark in Kakamega since the advent of devolution. The revenue enhancement forum agreed on an immediate action plan to seal revenue leakages through illegal printing of receipts and use of unauthorised stamps by cartels.

The forum also agreed on the speedy rollout of a cashless revenue collection system to ensure accountability and efficiency.
