Two different accidents which occurred yesterday(sunday) have led to claiming of one life leaving several others hospitalised in Mwingi within Kitui county.
At around 0435 hours in Kavaini area of Mwingi west, a Toyota Prado was involved in a fatal accident that killed a young man aged 25 years.
The Prado that hit a stationary Mitsubishi lorry had three occupants where one died on the spot leaving the other two hospitalised in Mwingi level IV hospital.
On the same day, a Garissa bound bus (E- coach) that was heading to Garissa from Nairobi was involved in an accident at Ndalani area few kilometers from Mwingi town when it veared out of the road while avoiding to hit a grader.
Over 40 passengers were injured and rushed to Mwingi level IV hospital.
Confirming the two incidences, Mwingi central Deputy OCPD, Harriet Kinya said that the major cause of the two accidents was poor visibility due to the ongoing rains.
In addition, Madam Harriet has pleaded with Mwingi residents to be careful during this rainy season and drivers to avoid overspeeding especially this time because of poor visibility.
