Man in court for possessing of 145 bags of charcoal

A man found transporting charcoal was on Monday April 23, arraigned at Mwingi law courts with charges of being in possession of 145  bags of charcoal without a permit in Mwingi town.

The suspect,  Richard Maina Munene, was arrested on Saturday the 21st, at around 20:40 hours by Mwingi police while transporting the black gold within Mwingi town.

The accused pleaded guilty before Senior Resident Magistrate, Grace Kirugumi who further submitted her final ruling on the case, there being no further need for a law suit.

In the magistrate’s ruling, the accused cam guilty Mains was ordered to pay a fine of ksh. 50,000 or face six months imprisonment.

The bags of charcoal were forfeited to Kitui county government.
