Mwingi central member of National Assembly, Dr. Gideon Mulyungi has urged the national government to prioritize construction of river Enziu bridge in order to curb the number of deaths witnessed in this river.
Dr. Mulyungi said this when he was at the famous River that has claimed more than six lives with a probox still submerged there which had four occupants whose bodies have not been retrieved yet more than two weeks after drowning. A body of a 13 year old boy is still immersed downstream.
“I appeal to the national government to mobilise disaster control unit to help retreave these bodies” the MP said.
Dr. Mulyungi has called upon the National government and department incharge of Nguni – Nuu road to ensure the bridge is completed in the next few months then they concentrate on the road after the bridge.
The government has been urged to issue emergency funds in order to put up Calverts where roads have been cut off so that transport is not hindered especially during this season of heavy rains that have not been witnessed in the last 20 years.
