County government to facilitate resumption of studies at Kyuso Boys’


The county government of Kitui has promised to donate 2.3 million shillings to help renovate Kyuso boys secondary school dormitory that went up in flames on Sunday evening.

Kitui county Deputy Governor, Dr. Wathe Nzau said this today(Tuesday) during his visit to the School.

Learning came to a halt on the night of May 13 2018 after an inferno razed a dormitory leaving at least 150 students in the cold.

Addressing Board of Management  Members Dr. Nzau said that the County Government will support the school to resume it’s normal learning activities.

He said the County government is committed to act with haste during disasters to assist mwananchi in solving the day to day emergencies without much strain.

“The fire broke up at the school last Sunday some minutes after 7pm,” explained the Principal Mr. Benjamin Nzyoka.
Nzyoka said the cause of the fire was attributed to electricity fault even as investigations continue
The school has a population of 756 students and only 25 were absent during the fateful incident.
None of the  personal items, bedding basics and books in the dormitory were salvaged.
