Kitui 7s kicks off as Revenue department takes over ticketing


The much awaited rugby event organised by the Kitui County Government kicked off early Friday morning 1st June,2018 at Ithookwe ASK Grounds in Kitui town where the local teams took part.The event started with Kitui Revenue Collectors taking over revenue collection from the fans at the entrance of the stadium to ensure their smooth entry.

With the expected 10,000 fans ,the County is expected to generate much income during the event set to continue for two days.The town business group is expected to reap much from the function.The event has attracted several Kitui locals who have expressed their joy for having the ent on their own land.

The function has attracted the national and local teams from within Kitui including St. Charles Lwanga,Kitui School and KMTC that officially opened up the event.Two Ugandan teams Kampala Men and Kampala Select Women are also expected to be attending the event. Several Counties shall be having their teams participating in the tournament.

The event organising team made a perfect job in organising the tournament to ensure the event becomes successful. The County of Kitui through the Department of Tourism and Sports under headship of Hon. Musau financed the preparations for the function.

The winning teams are expected to be pocketing heavy sums of money ranging between 400,000 and 500,000 among other special gifts organised by the County Administration under the leadership of Governor Ngilu.

Several County Officials who have graced the event include Kitui CEC Tourism,Sports and Culture Hon. Patrick Musau accompanied by County Treasury counterpart Hon. Mary Nguli among other County officials.More County servants are expected to be joining the tournament as it continues.

The visitors can also make their way to other important tourist attraction sites such as the long stretch of attractive Ikoo Valley in Mwingi West,Kanyoonyoo Conservancy,the famous Nzambani Rock in Kitui Central,the tranquil Kalundu Dam Eco Park and Muumoni Hills that has rare species of birds with a golden ring that can fly quite long distances .

National Reserves such as Kora and Kitui South also within the County can be toured not forgetting the scenic Adamson Falls in Mwingi.
