Kivutha opens the Makueni ASK show

Makueni county Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana officially opened the Makueni Agricultural and Trade Affair show for this year on Friday at Makindu, Makueni county.

Prof. Kibwana has praised the venue saying that it is convenient for exhibitions by the farmers of Makueni county.

“As you are all aware Makueni farmers have been served by the Machakos show previously before Makindu happened.  But our farmers now will have a nearer and convenient venue for the exhibition, “ The Makueni boss said.

Kibwana also said that his government has introduced and funded several farm inputs like artificial insemination services in order to make the agricultural production better in the County which has been a challenge to farmers over the years.

We are aware that the cost of production by farmers is a challenge to many. To this end, my government has subsidized several farm inputs. Among them, AI services where farmers are now paying sh 300 per insemination down from the initial Sh 1,300.”Said Kibwana.

With the Governor was Polish Ambassador to Kenya Jacek Bazanski who had earlier today paid a courtesy call to his office.

Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau who was also in attendance praised the event terming it as an educative one and urged farmers to apply what they will learn from the show in their farming.

I celebrate the exhibitors and organizers of this show. Let’s implement what we have learnt here,” the DG said.

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior who was also present in the official opening challenged farmers and exhibitors to also be there in the forthcoming Machakos ASK to also exhibit the innovations and products from Makueni.

“Different constituencies in our county produce different agricultural products. Let’s take advantage of the upcoming Machakos show and showcase our products there,” Mutula said.

This second edition of the county’s annual Agricultural show was also attended by the speaker of the County Assembly Douglas Mbilu, several county executive committee members, members of the county assembly and officials from Agricultural Show of Kenya.
