Mwingi North MP spearheads formation of Kitui High School Alumni Association

On Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, CAMPBELL’S 1938 Kitui High School old boys convened a consultative meeting at the school’s main hall whereby they held a joint discudsion that led to the formation of a vibrant alumni association.Present were the old boys who underwent their secondary education at Kitui High School (branded Campbell Academy after its founder 80 years ago).The idea of uniting all the who passed at Kitui School was crafted over the social media platforms especially Facebook pages and various WhatsApp groups April this year and gained momentum as time went by where all members agreed to form a get together.

Mwingi North law maker Hon. Paul Musyimi Nzengu made a brief appearance to the school due to official commitments he had to attend to.Hon. Nzengu was a Kitui School student between 1989-1992.

The members appointed Mr. Jacob Mutemi, 1992 class member to chair the alumni association by name Kitui School Alumni Association, KSAA.The association shall initiate and support the school’s development projects financially and also shall continuously offer advisory to the school BOM.The newly elected Chair promised to involve all stakeholders to help rebrand Kitui for better.

Efforts to reach the former Vice President H.E Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Government Spokesperson Erick Kiraithe and the immediate former Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga who also underwent secondary education at Kitui High School bore no fruits.The late Engineer Michael Ngilu, the husband to the incumbent Kitui County Governor H.E Charity Kaluki Ngilu also schooled at Kitui School.

Others are Dr Mutungi who is a lecturer,politicians Hon. Munyasia famously called Safari Njema,Hon. Hillary Katee (Muvisi) legendary KBC radio and TV presenter Leonard Mambo Mbotela, media celebrity James Malombe AKA Musungu of Mbaitu FM, Dr. Muthoka, the former Kyambiti Secondary Principal Mr. Muatine, Prof. Makau Mutua, US based lecturer.

The school Principal through his deputy congratulated the alumni for their move and encouraged them to take pride of their school.He also welcomed their move to restoring glory in an attempt to make the school an academic giant in the region.Former Kitui Central constituency aspirant Hon. Nicodemus Mulwa Sikwe of 1987 class fully pledged his support to the old boys’s idea and vowed to facilitate its fruition.
