Who will  audit President Uhuru’s lifestyle, Mulyungi

Mwingi central MP Dr Gideon Mulyungi’s question about the lifestyle audit is who will conduct the exercise on H.E Uhuru Kenyatta since almost every senior office in the country is headed by individuals who are close to the ruling party, hence there can’t be partiality in fighting graft in those offices.

The legislator said that as it stands now, there is no public officer or even parliamentary committee that can question the president’s authority and especially on how he might have acquired his wealth in the recently hyped calls for lifestyle audit of all public servants.

Speaking during a fundraiser at a local church at Kivou in Mwingi central Sub County in Kitui County, Mr Mulyungi said the president should put in place a well laid out procedure of fighting graft in the country, instead of just only talking tough while perennial corruption continue haunting Kenyans in the country.

The Mwingi central law maker supported proposals which were made by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi that the president ought to form a commission of inquiry to conduct thorough investigations and lifestyle audit on all public officers after which it should come up with recommendations on how officers whose source of wealth can’t be traced should be dealt with.

Dr Mulyungi said that nothing much can be achieved following the current laid out procedures as there is limited guideline on how to conduct lifestyle audit on government officials.

He called upon all leaders from across the nation to support the president in his bid to end perennial corruption in the nation in order to ensure that no more funds meant for public use ends up in pockets of rogue individuals.
