Go plant potatoes,DP Ruto tells off failed road contractor

Deputy president William Ruto on Sunday observed that the contractor constructing Tala-Oldonyo sabuk road should move from site since he has failed in his work.

Ruto who stood up to address the issue after several members of parliament complained on the state of the road said that the contractor was doing a shoddy job.

Ruto said that a new contractor will be assigned soon to take over and complete the project.
“If you can’tdo the job just go plant mangoes or potatoes and let those capable take over,we will have a new contractor soon on site to complete the construction”, Said Ruto.

The contractor Put Sarajevo has only constructed 10 kilometres of the road where potholes are already visible in the completed section.

The project has been dragged despite it being launched more than two years ago.

Area Member of Parliament Stephen Muli had lamented that the contractor hasn’t been on site for the past four months and the job already done is shoddy.

Mule had urged the Deputy president to ensure Contractor is stropped of the contract and a reliable contractor is assigned.

“The contractor has shortchanged us,for over two years but no tangible work can be shown since the road has a lot of potholes already before it’s completion”,Said Mule.

He said that most completed road projects in the county were completed long ago.

Deputy president William Ruto had been accompanied by several Kamba MCA’s at a a church service and funds raising at Ngunga parish in Matungulu sub county Machakos county.
