Health CAS Dr. Rashid joins Ngilu in war against polio

Kitui County Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu launched the second phase of the polio vaccination campaign on August 4th at Kauwi primary grounds, Kitui West.Flanked by the Chief Administrative Secretary, CAS Ministry of Health and Sanitaton Dr. Rashid Asman , the governor said the immunization drive aims at reaching over 188,000 children under the age of five years in 12 high-risk counties, among them Kitui County.

The drive is a major boost in her five pillar election pledges to Kitui electorates, for it aligns itself with the Governor’s second Pillar of better community Health-Care in her Five-Pillared Manifesto.The relaunch comes shortly after the first brain surgery was recently successfully done in Kitui County Referral Hospital shining a ray of hope for advanced medical operations to the locals.

“This financial year, we have allocated 30% of the county’s annual budget to the ministry of health to ensure that all essential services are available to the community, which surpassed the Abuja Declaration, which requires an allocation of 15% of the annual budget to Health,” Ngilu Said.

Ngilu said that her government appreciates the important role that vaccination plays in preventing such children killer diseases that have claimed lifes of many.In the last 2017/8 financial year, her government supported 175 immunization outreach services in hard to reach areas, procured four generators for insant power back ups, procured gas for vaccine fridges in all health facilities, procured spare parts and repaired 25 vaccine fridges.Ms.

Ngilu further disclosed to be soon launching the County Health Insurance, CHIC on August 21, 2018.
