Six schools lying along the volatile Kitui Tana border will not sit for the national examinations if adequate security is not beefed up along the bandit-prone border, area MP has warned.
The warning comes barely a day after one person was killed by Somali bandits who have been launching sporadic attacks in the area.
Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi yesterday asked the Interior CS Matiangi to ensure that adequate security is deployed to all schools lying along the epicenter of the banditry attacks warning that pupils have abandoned the schools and may fail to sit for the critical examinations this year.
“More than 200 candidates in Mwanzele, Kathungu, Ukasi, Sosoma, Iviani and Muuani may not sit for the upcoming national the exams if Matiangi does not make urgent and adequate deployment of security personnel to the 6 affected schools” said the area MP.
