The vocal Mwingi Central legislator Hon. Gideon Mulyungi has faulted the ongoing massive recruitment of youths to Kenya Defense Forces over transparency issues.The MP further claimed the exercise to have been translated into a secretive deal by the senior ranked officers set to benefit the chosen few.
Consequently, the MP called upon the national government to table publicly the intended number of recruits per single constituency to avoid marginalization of some areas.Hon. Mulyungi raised the alarm over the unequal number of recruited youths countrywide and called for restorative measures to handle the matter effectively in future.
Mulyungi disclosed the defense recruitment rot on Wednesday , 5th December at Musila Gardens in Mwingi town where he issued over 100 wheelchairs to the disabled.He expressed his discontent and suspicion that the exercise is being conducted unevenly across the country due to lack of specified number of recruits expected per each constituency.
The vocal Wiper law maker added that as enshrined in the newly promulgated 2010 constitution, all available opportunities ought to be spread equitably across the nation to ensure equitable development within all the regions.
The National Assembly representative from Mwingi Central further complained the Defense CS Hon. Rachael Omamo appearing before the Parliamentary Security Committee claimed the information being sought concerning the exercise as classified by the KDF Act.
He assured that the only way the government can restore Kenyans faith to the exercise is through enhancing selection openness and transparency.Hon. Mulyungi vowed to keep fighting for equitableness of such government exercises to ensure equal benefits to all.
