Governor Ngilu rallies residents to embrace Livestock improvement programme


Kitui Governor, H.E Charity Ngilu today called on all residents of Kitui County to avail their cows for the Artificial Insemination programme.

Speaking in Miambani Ward, Kitui Central when she went to inspect the programme’s progress, Ngilu highlighted the importance of this project not only to the residents of Miambani but also to the residents of the greater Kitui County.

“This is the ultimate way to go. We seek to improve on our breeds for milk and beef production, please pass the word around and let everyone bring their livestock.” Ngilu said as she addressed residents who had come to enroll their livestock on the program.

In addition, Ngilu added that considering the vast area covered by Kitui County, she was going to harness all the available resources within the county to ensure that all the residents benefit and wealth equitably distributed.

“We are only going to use the resources we have within Kitui County….we have a rich county with many resources. Those resources are the ones I will use bring wealth to you the people of Kitui.”

Further, the Governor also asked the residents to ignore lies peddled by people across the political divide who were only after ensuring that the her government does not deliver on her promises to the electorate.

Ngilu reiterated that the ultimate outcome of her delivery on her 5 pillar manifesto was to ensure that the lives of the people of Kitui are enhanced by all means.

“Do not listen to the lies being peddled by our opponents. It is clear that they do not mean well for you. These projects that I bring to you will ensure all of you get out of poverty.”

Today marked the 5th day since the exercise was launched with Miambani ward having successfully enrolled 294 cows into the exercise. 138 of them were successfully synchronized and 5 inseminated. 78 of the cows were found to be in-calf while 73 were underage.
