Adopt Mass Biological Livestock Upgrade Program as in Machakos, Kitui MP

Kitui East Mp Nimrod Mbai addressing his Constituents at Nzambani Ward. he told off Former primie for dragging DP william Ruto to corruption claims

Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai has downplayed the ongoing livestock upgrading program across Kitui county aimed at phasing out the less productive indigenous cattle breeds under the sponsorship of the County Government of Kitui.Mbai termed the synchronized Artificial Program (AI Program) wasteful, unfruitful and unprocedurally while he was addressing hundreds of mourners at the send-off ceremony of the late Leah Wangui Mutio at rural Kyanika village in Nzambani Ward, Kitui East constituency on Saturday.

Mbai praised the cattle upgrade exercise but pointed out a finger of blamed to the procedures through which the program is being conducted. He pointed out the huge bulk of public funds the artificial impregnation program will cost the taxpayer as compared to the likely benefits the indigenous animal keepers would get in return by likening the AI Program to the Ndengu Revolution and the recent K-CHIC Program.

The free cattle upgrading program launched few weeks ago is scheduled to benefit the local across all the administrative Sub-Counties through the introduction of the highly productive milk and beef livestock breeds. The desired exotic breeds are Guernsey, Ayrshire, Jersey, Friesian, Sawal and Boran best for high quality milk and beef production respectively.

Mbai said the county should have advocated the idea of biological impregnation through the purchase of the desired highly productive breeds as was done by Machakos and Maasai Land counties rather than opting for scientific cattle impregnation methods.Terming the ongoing synchronization wasteful, the MP noted the wrongful procedures undertaken by the county veterinary specialists tasked to perform the artificial impregnation.
