Residents of Masinga and kithyoko in Machakos County who since April last year have been experiencing transport challenges after a bridge connecting the two market centers was swept by flooding River Mukengesya are joyous, after the national government through KERA launched construction of the Mukengesya Bridge.
The bridge that connects Masinga and Kivaa wards has been a nightmare for the past few months, with residents being forced to seek medical services and trading in other far areas like Mwingi and Matuu towns since the bridge was rendered impassable.
Led by the area mp Joshua Mwalyo who launched the construction that will cost 5.8Million, he applauded the government for providing recourses and contractor who will see through the whole exercise.
He assured the residents that the ongoing bridge will be build in a modern way to avoid it being swept away by rains.
MCA kivaa ward Justus kiteme said that he sought help from the area mp after the county government of Machakos delayed to chip in even after he proposed a budget for the same.
Dorcas Muinde a resident of kithyoko said that now she has a reason to smile because business will be back to normal after the bridge completed.
Benson Nduva another resident urged the government to provide more recourse that will help build other drifts and bridges in the constituency that was also swept by the rains.
