Mwingi central member of National Assembly, Gideon Mulyungi categorically stated that despite celebrating 56 years of independence, most Kenyans have nothing to thank independence for.
Mulyungi, who was addressing his constituents gathered to celebrate the nationwide occasion at Thitha market, Kivou ward of Mwingi central sub-county,Kitui stated that Kenya’s state is deteriorating.
“the current state of our country is worse than before attaining independence,” articulated the MP
Citing examples to proof his sentiments, the Wiper elect Mp outlined alarming poverty level especially within his constituency.
“When one looks at the face of residents here, they do not seem happy and this is brought by the struggle they undergo to put food on the table,” the first term Mp said
Infrastructure in most parts of Mwingi is very poor where the Legislator stated that majority of roads are not tarmaked up to date.
“56 years of independence should be evident in developments within the country,” Mulyungi further noted.
According to Mulyungi, residents are not happy and demand to know where public money disappears to pleading with HE Uhuru Kenyatta to continue with the war against graft.
Kasau Munyasya, an aged resident outlined her disappointments especially in Mwingi area where very little has been done despite attaining self rule.
“Kenya should be among the most developed countries because 56 years of independence guarantees us to have touched the most interior parts of the country matters development,” Kasau stated.
