Woman charged in court for onslaught.

Previosly when John Musyoka, the suspect appeared before court, he did not want the media to capture his image.

A middle aged woman has appeared in court charged with aggravated torture and assault causing harm to her friend in katheka village, kauwi location, kitui west constituency,kitui county.

Kanini Sammy is accused of the offences which are alleged to have taken place at Katheka village on December 31, 2017.

It is alleged that the accused left Maria Nzoka with severel injuries before she abruptly disappeared before she was arrested yesterday by police officers officers from kabati police station who escorted her to kitui police station and charged today before the court.

On defending herself, the defendant however, denied the charge against her, naming those as defamatory allegations to shame her in public.

Appearing before resident magistrate Maureen kimani, Mrs Sammy was released on Ksh. 10,000 cash bail and will appear on kitui law court before magistrate Maureen kimani on 24th June 2019 for common assault.

Earlier, July 2017, a the same court handed a county official and two police officers jail time for torturing a suspect in their custody.

An assistant county commissioner and two Administration Police officers were sentenced to one and half years in jail for torturing suspects they had arrested on September, 2016

On delivering the judgment, senior resident magistrate Bethel Kimutai said that one of the victims endured severe pain and difficulties when urinating, which arose from the beatings.

The three were freed upon paying a fine of Ksh. 200,000 cash bail each.

On may, 2019, Matinyani village, Kitui County, a junior officer is said to have beaten a man and left him in coma .

Lincoln Nzunza, 40, is said to have been assaulted by a policeman at a local bar. Lincoln was attacked after he earlirly gone to the police station to report an earlier incident where the constable damaged glasses and tables at a bar.

Sleuths, are investigating the incident to capture the culprit into custody.
