Community Health Volunteers in Mutha on Tuesday got a major boost from Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB).
A total 350 bicycles were donated to Community Health Volunteers. This will better and improve service delivery to those living in interior parts of Mutha.
The launch was graced by the personal assistant (PA) to the Governor Eric Ngilu. MR Ngilu on behalf of Governor Ngilu greatly appreciated the NGO’s gesture.
“This move is directly contributing to improved livelihoods of residents of Kitui South who have been marginalized and neglected for many years” Mr Ngilu said
Other leaders present during the launch;Kitui South Sub County Administrator Mr Patrick Kiusya, Mutha Ward administrator, Village administrators from Mutha ward as well as senior health officials from county government of Kitui.
The NGO which works closely with the Ministry of Health especially in Kitui South mainly focusses on children and mothers partnerships to ensure better healthcare of these groups.
They also distribute water purification sachets through the same CHVs as well as economic empowerment through support of women groups.
The bicycles were accompanied by CHV kits which will enable the CHVs be better able to roam within their villages spreading key health messages which they have been taught by Ministry of Health Officials in Kitui South with the support of CMMB.
Kitui South Sub County has received support from the Ministry of Health in Nairobi who have assisted in the formulation of the community health strategy and intend to make the sub county one of the benchmarking areas for the program in the country.
