CS suspends 4 officers over illegal logging in Mbooni Forest

Environment and Natural Resources CS, Keriako Tobiko on Friday visited Kivale Forest, Mbooni constituency to witness the wanton destruction as a result of illegal logging that has taken place in the recent past.

The CS confirmed that massive illegal logging has been ongoing despite the government ban on the vice to save the water catchment areas from depletion.

To counter this challenge, four senior Kenya Forest Service (KFS) officers have been suspended following this visit, the County Forest Officer, Mbooni Sub County Forest Officer, the Forest Officer at Kivale and the Forest Ranger in charge of Kivale.

The rest of the reporting team that had denied logging was taking place will be dealt with by CS Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
