Mutonguni ward in Kitui County Assembly is among the four wards in Kenya set to conduct by-election to fill the vacant ward legislators seats to their respective county assemblies.
The national election body, IEBC, through the Kenya Gazette and it’s digital communication sites has confirmed that the four wards’ polls shall be held on 17th October this year.
The other wards are Abakaile in Garissa, in Ganda Kilifi and Loiyangalani in Marsabit Counties.
Mutonguni ward seat became vacant after Musee Mati petitioned the victory of the incumbent MCA Hon. Felix Mbevo, and thereafter the court nullified the incumbent’s win ordering fresh election.
A tough battle is expected between the two close competitors with the current MCA seeking to retain the seat and the petitioner eyeing to dethrone the incumbent.
