Mwingi Central MP Dr. Gideon Mulyungi is now calling upon the national government through the ministry of education to chip in construction of school infrastructure, as the CDF kitty for MPs is too little and can only do too little.
The legislator said that MPs have been overburden by having to hold fundraisers every weekend towards construction of school, a role which the ministry of education would be doing, owing to the budget they control.
Speaking during a fundraiser towards construction of a school dormitory at Yatwa Secondary school in Nuu, Mwingi Central constituency in Kitui County, Dr. Mulyungi said that sometimes he has been forced to spend his private funds in aiding fundraisers towards construction of schools in his constituency, whereby many schools are still in dire need of essential facilities.
The area Member of National Assembly also urged the ministry of education whose yearly budget is huge compared to the CDF funds controlled by MPs to consider constructing schools in order to make learning easier.
Dr. Mulyungi also urged the government to supply all schools in the arid areas like Kitui with relief food, so as to enable learners to continue with their studies because as we speak most families in his constituency are feeling the pangs of the impending drought due to poor rains this season.
