Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) on Friday clarified to the state that Hon. Wilson Sossion remains the active Secretary General to the union.
The union says Sossion, who is also a nominated MP will continue to serve the position following an agreement that was later reached between three parties TSC, KNUT and Employment Labour Relations Court led by Lady Justice Maureen Onyango.
This came after earlier Friday court ruling that upheld his deregistration as a teacher by TSC.In his ruling Justice Nelson Abuodha revealed that TSC was concerned with Sossion’s deregistration as a teacher so as to free him from active teaching duties and instead get more engaged on union affairs.
In a press release dated 26th July, 2019 the teachers union affirmed that Sossion is still in office despite the earlier court ruling that had upheld his deregistration by Teachers Service Commission as a teacher.
His reinstatement to the position he held at KNUT was agreed based on Article 31(4)(a) of Labour Relations Act states that Secretary General of Trade Union PR Chief Executive or Association Secretary of Employees organization.
