As the chronic water shortage continues to bite many parts of Kitui County and especially the southern parts, the residents of Kitui South Sub County have voiced their cry to the County Government of Kitui to hasten the completion of stalled Kangu Kangu Water Project.

The project was initiated during the tenure of the immediate former Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and since his dethrone in August, 2017, the project has remained unattended leaving thousands without an access to clean water for domestic use.

To quench the locals’ prolonged water thirst, the 500M³ concrete tank was erected in Mutomo Hill to supply water by gravity to thousands of households in Mutomo, Kanyangi, Ikutha and Kanziko wards among other neighbouring areas.

The abandonment of the water project has forced the locals to travel long distances to as far as rivers Athi and Tiva seeking this precious resource.

By the time the former Governor left the office, the project was over 80% complete having used up over 800M.
