Kitui, Machakos Staff To Paralyse Services

Patients in Machakos County continued to suffer and even die as the doctors' strike in the County entered week two.

Strike looms in 15 counties as the seven day notice for the counties’ workers strike expires without a resolution being met between the two parties. The strike has been triggered by the Council of Governors letter that was circulated to the employees notifying the counties’ workers that their July pay may be delayed further.

The counties’ strike is expected to paralyse the normal daily routines across the 15 counties as the union expects no one of the union workers to render their services to their clients on behalf of their respective counties.

KNUN, KMPPDU unions are expected to join hands with KCGWU to stage an intensive strike over the pending July pay.

The counties where normalcy shall be a thing of the past are Machakos, Embu, Meru, Bungoma, Samburu, Nakuru, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Tharaka/Nithi, Kitui, Isiolo, Marsabit, West Pokot, Kisumu, Baringo and Samburu.

The county governments’ staff through their union, Kenya County Government Workers Union (KCGWU) issued to their employers the notice to down their tools on Tuesday onwards if their July salaries delays further.
