Kitui workers on Tuesday downed tools and joined other counties in a strike following July salary delays.
The workers matched to Governor’s office to ensure their firm decision is well understood.
Kenya County Government Workers Union [KCGWU] Kitui Secretary General, Daisy Muli stated that Kitui workers will only get back to work after salaries reflect in their relevant bank accounts.
“We have instructed all unionists to vacate offices until we are paid,” said Daisy.
The branch chair, Stephen Kitheka urged the senate and national assembly to swiftly solve their standoff over counties revenue share.
Kitui Deputy Governor, Wathe Nzau had a hard time controlling the workers who turned deaf ears on him.
Kenya County Government Workers Union had issued a 7 day notice.
