Snatch thief takes off with woman’s purse under thighs


A lone snatch thug on Tuesday night made away with Sh 10, 000/= after he snatched a purse from a woman in Kitui.

A man on a motorcycle snatched a woman’s handbag containing a mobile Phone – (Techno type), ATM card And cash kshs. 10,000/= and managed to get away despite being chased by the woman.

The woman, identified as Caroline Mawia, said she was walking on a road from work near her house at around 2.30pm on Monday when an unknown individual on a motorcycle snatched her purse.

The incident occurred at Mwingi town, Mwingi central sub-county, about 1km west of Mwingi police station.

The man, identified as John Mandela was a lone snatch thief and it was alleged that had victimised more than 20 women including a policewoman.

Aggrieved members of the Public Pursued the Suspect In his house but he managed to escape.

The Suspect Later Surrendered himself at the Police Station for fear of being Lynched by the angry mob. He Was then Arrested and Placed In Cell for Offense of robbery.
