Thwake Dam Workers Face Tough Times, Kitui MP

Kitui Rural Constituency Member of National Assembly Hon. David Mwalika Mboni on Tuesday visited the construction site for Thwake Dam at Kangangi, Kitui Rural Sub County to check the progress the project has made.

The multi-purpose dam located at the confluence of rivers Athi and Thwake is expected to transform the three adjacent Ukambani counties agriculturally mainly through supplying water for irrigation.

The MP was on a fact finding mission to get first hand information on the progress of the construction of the dam and the welfare of the workers.

While addressing the residents of Kangangi, the legislator said the construction is going on well but there are alot of complaints from the workers for low pay,lack of contracts, poor working and living conditions that must be checked on immediately.

He added that a meeting with the Water and Irrigation CS Simon Chelugui and the main contractor will be held on 20th, August to address these pressing issues.
