Kitui county commissioner John Ondego has confirmed the loss of one census gadget within Mwingi Central sub county.
Speaking to the press, commissioner Ondego said that on Saturday 24/8/2019, it was reported in Mwingi Central police station that the census gadget had been stolen.
The Content Supervisor, name withheld, reported immediately the gadget was stolen at Mwingi Police station where he was arrested as the first suspect and later released due to inadequate evidence.
According to Ondego, the content supervisor had kept the gadget at the backseat of his car while the car was parked in one of the streets of Mwingi town, whereby on his return he didn’t find it together with other personal items.
“The stolen gadget has been replaced and the exercise is going on well”, said Ondego.
He added that investigations are ongoing although no one has been arrested in connection to the theft.
