Services at Kitui Hospital and other health facilities will be unavailable as county doctors down their tools.
The county doctors, that is Medical Officers and Pharmacists have been working even as the other cadres went for strike almost a month ago.
After deliberations between the members and their Union (KMPDU), it was agreed that due to inability to cater for costs to get them to work i.e food, transport and even rent for two months, they have vowed not to go to work and instead seek alternatives to be able to survive.
“The County government could have sought alternative means to salvage this situation. Healthcare is a basic need and depriving the residents of it is inconsiderate of the County Government leadership“, said a county worker
Doctors will only go back to work with their full pay ready in individual accounts. And again if not paid in 1 week they’ll go on a strike ( a strike is not all about salaries).
A letter in our possession indicate that doctors will not be available in our public health facilities, residents have therefore been advised to seek services from private health facilities.
