The members of Parliamentary Committee on Security and Administration led by Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange are calling upon the National government to evict Somali herders who are living illegally in Enyali, Tsavo game reserve.
Accompanying the committee were local MPs Dr.Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central) Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) and officers from Kenya Wildlife Service.
According to Koinange the government will be forced to send either GSU or other bigger forces to evict the armed marauding Somali herders who have been displacing and killing innocent Kitui residents.
“We have seen the current situation in Kitui County and we will take the message to the national government so that they can come out with a solution as soon as possible”, said Koinange.
According to Koinange the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Administration came to Kitui County for a fact finding mission on issue of insecurity and also following the petition of Hon.Mulyungi to the parliament.
Mulyungi said they Somali herders should be evicted from Enyali camp as soon as possible because they neither have the ownership of the land nor a formal government administration.
“The Somali herders came here to destroy our properties and kill our people and our school going children are not going to school because seven schools in Kitui South has been closed due to insecurity”, added Mulyungi.
Mp Nimrod Mbai said the current situation in Kitui County is very critical because Somali herders are highly armed unlike Kamba community who has inferior weapons.
Mbai further said that Kitui residents deserves constitutional rights to live the way they want and perform their daily duties without fear.
