Mwingi OCPD warn residents against swollen rivers following heavy rains.


Mwingi central Sub county Police commander Peter Mutuma has warned residents especially motorists against playing around with swollen rivers during the ongoing heavy rains which are causing major damage to roads and bridges.

In the past few days, heavy rains have been witnessed in Mwingi, rendering several roads impassable and yesterday the Kanginga Bridge along the Thika-Garissa highway was almost swept away by water, were it not for the officials from the Kenya National Highways authority who acted promptly.

Am urging the residents to be extra careful when crossing rivers during or after heavy rains, as it may lead to loss of lives“, said Mutuma.

Mutuma also thanks officers from KeNHa for acting swiftly when they were alerted on what was happening at Kanginga bridge and started repairing sections of the road which had been affected by the rains.
