Sinohydro at the rescue as killer pick-up is removed from river bed


Sinohydro Corporation was at the centre of action during efforts to retrieve a pick-up truck that plunged into river Mutindi in Matinyani last night killing four persons.



The company constructing the Kibwezi-Kitui Road donated equipment and operators that were key in the removal of the double cabin pick-up that had stuck in the sandy river bed.

Four people among them staffs of Prime Telecom Ltd, a telecomunications company died in the tragedy when the vehicle they were travelling in was toppled by water after the driver attempted crossing the swollen river.

Matinyani OCPD John Sawe reached over to Sinohydro Corporation for help when efforts by police officers and local residents to retrieve the vehicle seemed to bear no fruits owing to lack of equipment.

A Sinohydro Corporation staff Mr. Li Min said the company remains committed to supporting local residents during moments of need when reached for help.
