Mwingi-Police still hunting ‘defiler pastor’

Security officers in Mwingi are pursuing a suspected preacher believed to have allegedly defiled over 20 girls and impregnated several others in Mwingi, in the name of bringing them closer to God.

More than ten girls were on Thursday, last week arrested alongside the preacher’s wife, in different rental houses where the pastor is said to have held them hostage as sex slaves.

The preacher owns a church at Kwa Mbungu area three kilometers from Mwingi town going by the name Mountain of Healing and Deliverance Church.

The suspect is said to be intoxicating young girls below 18 years with unknown superstitious substances, after which they refuse to go back to their homes, once they attend his church.

The bizarre story emerged when parents from Kwa Mbungu where the church is located caused chaos demanding their daughter who had scored 304 marks in this year’s KCPE from the pastor’s church.

Following the mayhem, residents of the area gathered and wanting revelations started emerging of how the pastor has been preying on minors in the area.

Many girls who attend the church are said to have dropped out of school and others gave birth at tender ages following alleged defilement.

Mutisya Maluki, a resident from the area explained how his niece had been alleged impregnated by the said pastor and the case went unresolved even after being reported at Mwingi police station.

“When my niece started attending the church she became pregnant but no action was taken even after reporting to the authorities,” said Mutisya

Bernard Munyasya, a Business man from Mwingi town said that he had to rush to the area, after he heard the unbelievable story about the preacher and how he had allegedly dispossessed a couple from the area off their daughter immediately she completed class eight.

“I had to rush and witness the rare occurrence where a pastor in my neighborhood was being accused of defiling minors in the name of spiritually connecting them to God,” said Munyasya

Munyasya urged the police to take stern action against the man of God who is still on the run, after he got the information that he was being sought by the police.

Confirming the happening, Mwingi Central Sub county police commander, Peter Mutuma said that they got information about the pastor from the public and he immediately send police to the area where several girls were rescued.

According to Mr. Mutuma, the said preacher has been preying on the young girls who are brought to him by their parents while sick or demon possessed.

“Investigations over the matter have been launched and the preacher who is still on the run will be soon arrested and brought to book,” stated Mutuma

Mutuma also urged parents to be very cautious on the whereabouts of their children especially during this long holiday and not to trust any adult with their young girls for they may fall prey.

“I urge parents to be very keen with their children especially during this long holiday as a lot of dangers are out there,” advised the OCPD.

When Kitui Online reached the police boss today in the afternoon seeking whether the ‘prey pastor’ had been arrested, Mutuma said that operations to hunt him down are still ongoing.

“The suspect has been sighted by residents in most parts of the town but he immediately disappears- my officers are still going after him,“said the police boss
