Mwingi-man arrested with explosives



A 23-year-old was arrested on Saturday after being found with suspected explosives following residents’ tip off.

John Muthengi who sells fish at Mwingi old market was arrested after he was found being in possession of approximately 500Grams of white substance solid in nature suspected to be TNT, which is highly explosive.

Peter Mutuma, Mwingi central sub county commander confirming the incident, also said that John was in possession of, a greenish cable with a copper like head suspected to be a detonator.

The police boss stated that the suspected TNT material will be taken to Government Chemist for analysis.

The fish salesperson was also found with 100 rolls of cannabis sativa, approximately 30 Grams of plant materials suspected to be cannabis sativa, 40 tablets of unknown substance, assorted match sticks, wax and boxes rolled in a paper, a pair of white gloves and a black polythene bag.

The police boss lauded the community for working together with police to ensure peace within Mwingi town.
