Kitui MPs are up in arms after Governor Charity Ngilu denied them Sh. 12 million meant to mobilise residents for the Lower Eastern BBI meeting at Kitui Stadium.
Addressing the press in Kitui Town, the legislators accused Ngilu of attempts to embarrass them in the eyes of their constituents and national leadership.
“It no secret Ngilu was handed Sh. 12 million to enable Kitui leaders, who are hosting the national debate on proposed constitutional changes, make the meeting a success,” said Senator Enoch Wambua.
He added that the Governor, who is never short of controversies, was keen to humiliate Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in his own political backyard.
“We reliable intelligence that she is using the money to ferry her supporters and goons to the event so that they can shout down the former vice president,” he revealed.
The Senator, however, told Ngilu to swallow the humble pie and acknowledge that Kalonzo is the undisputed Ukambani kingpin.
“Let’s not waste time arguing who leads Kambas because that remains to be Kalonzo Musyoka whether Ngilu and her accolades like it or not,” he announced.
His sentiments were shared by MPs Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Vethi Nyenze (Kitui West) and Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East, Jubilee), among others who told Ngilu to accord Kalonzo the respect he deserves and avoid divisive politics.
