The three Ukambani governors Charity Ngilu,Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana met on Tuesday, February 25, to deliberate on the region’s unity.
Speaking after the meeting that was held at his Machakos offices, Governor Alfred Mutua said that the trio had come together to forge unity of purpose for the BBI in Ukambani.
the meeting brought together the three governor’s whoake up the South Eastern Kenya Economic Block,(SEKEB).
“The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) proposes inclusivity in government for all and a shared prosperity across the country.
As leaders from the South Eastern Kenya Economic Block, we want our people to benefit economically from the BBI discussion. We want to highlight our needs and provide a way to empower our people, as well as present our region as a strong strategic partner on the National platform.” Governor Mutua said.
Governor Mutua further used the opportunity to give his Kitui and Makueni counterparts a tour of some key could. To projects his administration is working on. These projects included a Cancer and Research Centre, that is a great milestone in the County’s Health care.
“We later toured the Machakos Cancer and Research Centre, a great milestone that has truly provided excellent cancer care for our people.
With the proposed increase in County disbursement in BBI to between 35%-45% from the previous 18%, projects like these will be a reality across the country.” The Machakos county boss and self-proclaimed Ukambani kingpin added.
