Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), declared his interests to vie for the presidency in the 2022 General Election.
Dr Kituyi, 65, made the big announcement on Saturday. He’s joining several other leaders including Deputy President William Ruto, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi of the Amani National Congress (ANC).
Dr Kituyi was a cabinet minister during President Mwai Kibaki’s regime.
His term at Unctad will end mid this year.
