The County Assembly has embarked on the Kitui County Budget Estimates for the FY 2021/2022 sectoral committees consideration.
This follows the submission of the 2021/2022 Budget Estimates on 30th of April, 2021 to the Assembly which is in accordance with the law. Also submitted alongside the Program Based Budget Estimates for the FY 2021/22 were the Kitui County Budget Policy Statement on the FY 2021/22 Budget, the Kitui County Budget Notes for the FY 2021/22 and the Kitui County Itemized Budget 2021/22.
The exercise which commenced Monday, 17th May at Lysak Haven Park, Machakos was graced by the CECM, County Treasury, Mr. Ben Katungi, Chief Officer for Economic Planning, Mr. Enoch Nguthu and Chief Officer for Finance, Dr. Justus Kalii amongst other key staff of the County Ministry who carefully took the Members of County Assembly through key highlights of the proposed budget estimates.
The session allowed members to inquire on issues including the proposed sources of revenue which the County Government of Kitui is envisaging to have, revenue projections for the coming financial year as it was realized that the current financial year had under collections within the different ministries.
In consideration of the proposed budget estimates all the committees shall seriously take into account the approved 2021 Annual Development Plan and the 2021 County Fiscal Strategy Paper among other key documents while interrogating the estimates for the different line ministries during the week long exercise.
