Kitui lacks medicine for health facilities, Ngomeni MCA

According to Ngomeni member of county assembly, Eliud nding’uri Kitui county hospitals and health facilities have no medicine.

Most of the facilities have painkiller only as medicines. Ngomeni for instance has been operating without medicine for the past six months.

“When some of these dispensaries was opened, refurbished or constructed, drugs have never been stocked. We have been operating without medicine since July last year,” said MCA.

The nurses are forced to refer patients to chemists and other facilities where medicines are available.

“We prescribe the medicine but send patients to buy them elsewhere because of the shortage. Most patients get medicine from private chemists in the villages.

No politics on this at it touches on lives of kitui residents and not the politicians”

Nding’uri added that he will be forwarding this information to county assembly committee on health to investigate health facilities across the county.
