Kitui’s final touches in readiness of NHIF


Kitui County Government has today started an inspection exercise of all health facilities in the county, in readiness for the soon to be launched Universal health Cover under the National Hospital Insurance Fund.

In Mwingi Central Sub-county, the exercise was under the leadership of County Executive Committee Member for Infrastructure Transport Housing Urban Development and Roads Stephen Kyalo Watutu.

Watutu and his team visited several hospital facilities, where they got to interact with the medical personnel and Musangi in the facilities and captured the challenges they face and proposals of how they can be served better.

They visited Kalisasi, Mathyakani Health Centres, and Musukini Dispensary and later inspected development projects, under Community level Infrastructure Development Projects and Kenya Roads Board.

Governor Ngilu’s administration has increased the number of health facilities from 187 in 2017, to 300 presently to shorten distances Musangi cover to access healthcare services.

The County is improving all level 4 facilities and the county referral facility to better the services to the residents in the journey to attain universal healthcare.
