Thursday morning, Kitui Governor was pleasantly surprised by Mama mbogas, bodaboda operators, hawkers, cobblers, saloonkeepers, barbers, touts and other small business traders in Kitui town when they ‘ambushed’ her office to pay a courtesy call and to register their support to development programs and projects.

The business community held a conversation about how to continue ensuring that they have more money in their pockets as the government implement programs that target poverty reduction and wealth creation.

“Increasing household income, by focusing more on empowering our people to be producers has been at the top of my agenda.” Governor Ngilu said

“Our people are beginning to slowly understand that skills development, value addition and manufacturing is a sure way of pulling our people out of abject poverty.” she added
