Five armed robbers made a daring broad daylight robbery on Tuesday at around 9:00 am, Matuu Equity bank in Yatta sub county, Machakos county.
The robbers made away with unknown amount of money from the bank’s teller but those from customers have been ascertained, Mobile phones were also stolen.
A police report seen by our team stated that the robbery with violence incident was reported by Mr Michael Muriithi Gachanja the manager equity bank Matuu equity bank branch.
Sub County Police Commander Yatta, Sub Count Criminal Investigation Officer Yatta and Officer Commanding Station Matuu together with their officers rushed to the scene and established that police constable woman Dorothy Opili sustained injuries on her hip joint, bruises on hands and her AK 47 riffle stolen.
Police Constable Patrick Omusebe sustained bruises on both hands, pain on his private parts and his AK47 riffle was also robbed.
Police are on the look out and speedy and thorough investigation has been launched in order to bring the culprits to book and face the full force of the law.
According to Machakos police commander Mr Issa Mahamoud, two suspects have been arrested, they are being interrogated as police sought more suspects.
Issa urged yatta community to work hand in hand with the security apparatus to share any information that could lead to arrest of the suspects at large.
