Covid-19 terrorizing Mwingi School


Learning has been paralyzed at St.Teresa Ukasi Girls Secondary school in Mwingi East,Kitui county.

This is after 38 students and two teachers tested positive for COVID-19.

The school principal, Mrs Philomena Muema said this happened after one of the teachers complained of chest cough and Malaria .
He went for covid 19 testing and discovered he was positive.

There after several students started complaining of severe headache and started coughing

Immediately the principal decided to take them for medical check up at Mwingi level four hospital.

Out of the number she had gone with only one tested negative while the other 3 were all positive.

The number of the infected persons then started going up day by day up to now totaling to 38 students and two teachers who have since tested positive for the virus.

Philomena said testing is still going on and so far they have tested teachers and subordinate staffs.

36 students are quarantined at the school while three others are at Mwingi level four hospital.
