Locals in parts of Larger Mwingi have pleaded with the government to quickly step in and distribute relief food to them.
This is after most areas experienced very minimal rainfall in the last season.
Speaking in Mitamisyi,Ngomeni ward,Mwingi North, the locals said they had harvested nothing and now want the government to consider donating relief food to them as they stare starvation.
They spoke while receiving food donations from a local NGO, Vision Together Foundation.
They also decried that camel herders have highly led to ongoing famine as their farm products were destroyed by the camels.
“We should have harvested something however little but due to the recurrent conflict over grazing land and water from Somali herders, we were left with nothing after their camels were forcefully herded into our shambas,” a local said.
Most locals depend on green grams farming but currently seeking for food donations.
