Over 150 employees lose jobs in Mwingi as 4 armed men storm facility ordering them to vacate


More than 150 employees from Saab Enterprise in Mwingi have lost their jobs after a man who came claiming the facility is his and armed with four body builders ordered them out of the facility a week ago.

One of the directors in the previous management said all employees and surbordinate staffs were ordered out of the facility as the man claimed he had taken over the company.

The director said the man who claimed his company back had left it under a new management back in 2006.

The company purifies and packs water and also operates a bakery.

Caro Masaa, who was the clerk said they saw a man enter with four body builders who were armed.

Soon after, all employees were ordered to vacation the facility.

Carol upon asking for her pay, she was told she will be paid once the new boss is paid.
“Nitakulipa nikilipwa,” carol recalled the harsh sentiments.

She lamented they have been out of work since Monday 23rd and do not know their fate as they were not issued with any notice as well as not communicated to on how they will get their pay.

Explaining her devastation, she said she has school going children and solely depended on the job urging the labor department to act on their case.

A driver at the company who sought anonymity said as workers they have been adversely affected especially now that the country is battling COVID_19 pandemic.
