Parents of pupils who fainted in school due to hunger speak

Muthakye Mutisya, a parent at Kalima Mundu Primary School in Kyuso sub county, Kitui has finally spoken after her grade five pupil fainted in school following pangs of hunger.

She said last week while the children were at the assembly, her daughter was among those who fainted due to hunger.

“She had eaten very little food the previous evening as I had cooked and shared a 1/4 kilogramme of green grams among my six children, which was hardly enough for them, “she explained.

The mother of six said she did not have anything else to feed her children with.
“Drought has badly affected us and we are afraid especially now that our children have started fainting,” she said.

She pleaded with the government and well wishers to intervene and donate food to locals.
Rhoda Mwende, another local said the situation calls for immediately action as most families are spending nights without anything to put on the stomach.
