Kitui: Fear of conflict as camel herders invade Mutha

The dry season is pushing camel herders from Tana River into Mutha, Kitui South in Kitui county in search of water and pasture, fueling fears of possible conflict over the scarce natural resources.

Over 500 camels have been spotted in Ngaani – Kandolongwe area.

Confirming the intrusion along Mutha area in Kitui South constituency on Sunday, residents said police were aware of camel herders presence but are mum on the same as they have been pocketed.

School going children have been affected as they cannot go to school with such large herds of camel in the area.
